What we do on the Teacast
We sit down with the people who bring Britain alive: the makers, historians, foragers, folklorists, singers and hosts who turn up in our retreats, and talk about the places, the tales and the layers beneath them. We interview locals, experts, and the people who make a place what it is.
Alongside that we are building a growing catalogue of practical advice for travelling in Great Britain, the things you actually want to know before you come. Driving in the UK. What the weather really does. How to read a footpath sign. Tipping. Trains. Foraging and folklore. Which bits of the guidebook to ignore.
A folklorist explaining why the black dog turns up in every county in England. A brewer on why the cellar is the right place to sing. A forager telling you what is edible in a Devon hedgerow in May, and what will make you regret it.
It is hosted from two sides of the Atlantic, Lucy in Washington State, USA, and our co-host Michael Lamerton in the Cotswolds, England, with guests from all over Great Britain. Episodes usually last around an hour.

YOUR HOSTS
LUCY
Lucy. British, from Robin Hood country in Nottinghamshire and living in Washington State, USA, for the last twenty-two years. She runs Inside Story Travel, and having spent a lifetime learning Britain properly she cannot be stopped from telling you about it, which turns out to be a useful quality in a podcast host.
MICHAEL LAMERTON
Born in Cornwall, raised in the Gloucestershire countryside, and still there. He walks, he cooks, and he guides our Cotswolds retreat. Michael brings the British half of the map, a low tolerance for romanticised history, and the questions Lucy is too polite to ask. Plus a little banter.
